There he created popular comic strips such as \u2018Little Sammy Sneeze\u2019 and \u2018Dream of The Rarebit Fiend\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/005_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7835\" width=\"709\" height=\"362\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/005_web.webp 574w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/005_web-300x153.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 100vw, 709px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He presented a fantasy comic strip for the first time, titled \u201cLittle Nemo in Slumberland\u201d in 1905. It was a signature strip concerning a young boy and his adventurous dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time many detailed editorial cartoons were produced by him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Editorial cartoons were political cartoons with graphical caricature of public figures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those days Chalk Talks were much familiar in vaudeville circuit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vaudeville circuit was a theatrical entertainment in France during the 19<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was famous for performing chalk talks on the vaudeville circuit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/006_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7839\" width=\"731\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/006_web.webp 591w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/006_web-300x176.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 731px) 100vw, 731px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chalk Talks were illustrated performances where a speaker draws illustrations to emphasize lecture points that create interest in listeners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCay started animating his films himself in the early 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In making his animated films, every picture was drawn by him separately. Later they were photographed one by one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make a one minute film there needed were hundreds of photographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Very tedious and time consuming job was that. Sometimes to make a five minute cartoon it took more than a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was satisfied with what he had done and felt proud of his animation work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10 animated movies were completed between 1911 and 1921 by him. He planned for three more to make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His first animated movie \u201cLittle Nemo\u201d was released in theatres on April 8, 1911. It was made by him in black-and-white with 4000 drawings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/007_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7841\" width=\"642\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/007_web.webp 453w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/007_web-300x210.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film was well received by public. It inspired him to remake it in color by painting each and every frame by hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He released his second animated movie \u201cHow a Mosquito Operates\u201d in 1912. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of the film was based on an episode of his comic strip \u2018Rarebit Fiend\u2019 published in 1909. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/008_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7844\" width=\"683\" height=\"463\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/008_web.webp 478w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/008_web-300x203.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film was a pure comedy animation. A giant mosquito irritates a sleeping man by sucking the blood. It escapes many attempts by the man. Finally it explodes itself as a result of overdrinking the blood of the man to its fullest limits. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His next animated movie was \u201cGertie the Dinosaur\u201d released in February 1914 with detailed background animation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this film a dinosaur named \u201cGertie\u201d was introduced by McCay. It was in captivity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/009_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7848\" width=\"687\" height=\"489\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/009_web.webp 504w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/009_web-300x214.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 687px) 100vw, 687px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gertie performed many animated tricks like bowing to the audience as McCay commanded the beast with a whip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interesting point in this animated movie is that McCay walked off stage and reentered the film in animated form and was carried by Gertie finally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many comic strips like \u201cA Tale of the Jungle Imps\u201d, Little Sammy Sneeze\u201d, and so on were made by him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He had produced almost 11 animated movies including the above said ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His other animated movies are \u201cThe Pet\u201d, \u201cThe Flying House\u201d, \u201cFlip\u2019s Circus\u201d, etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/010_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7855\" width=\"732\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/010_web.webp 575w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/010_web-300x169.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Dream of the Rarebit Fiend, he had used Silas as pen name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All his works were made with great understanding of realistic perspective.
