She traveled to many locations and broke the records set by previous submarines because of her nuclear power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was in operation from 1954 to 1980.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The submarine\u2019s installed nuclear power was 13,400 HP (10,000 KW). She was initially equipped with STR nuclear reactor with two-shafted geared steam turbines. The STR reactor was later replaced by S2W reactor by the US navy. She was armed by six torpedo tubes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was decommissioned on 3 March 1980 and preserved as a museum ship in Groton, Connecticut.
