After Alexander\u2019s death, he took charge of Egypt and became the king of Egypt. Thus he founded the Macedonian dynasty in Egypt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/002_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10048\" width=\"615\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/002_web.webp 532w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/002_web-300x209.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having Suffered from a feverish illness for two weeks (either malaria or typhoid) Alexander the Great died on 10 June 323 B.C.E.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His empire was divided up between the three of his leading generals viz. Perdiccas, Seleucus, and Ptlemy I. It is said that they fought one another to establish dominance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/003_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10050\" width=\"662\" height=\"395\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/003_web.webp 545w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/003_web-300x179.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 662px) 100vw, 662px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially Ptolemy was a Satrap (a governor of a province in ancient Persia) and said to have married the daughter of the previous pharaoh, Nectanebo II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As was said above the power crisis between the three generals led to several years of war and finally Ptolemy took the control of Egypt and became the King in 305 after Alexander\u2019s death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His dynasty ruled Egypt for 300 years until Romans captured it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-white-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-background-color has-text-color has-background\">Ptolemy\u2019s Major Contributions as the king of Egypt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ptolemy like Alexander the Great was a great learner and was much interested in literary and scientific works. His major contributions are listed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Development of Alexandria, the capital city of Ancient Egypt:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The port city Alexandria which was founded by Alexander the Great was developed as the new capital as for Alexander\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Pharos: The Great Lighthouse of Alexandria.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ptolemy was a patron Euclid (a Greek geometer who specialized in geometry). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He appointed the famous philosopher Strabo to teach his son. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mamlabs.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/004_web.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10054\" width=\"700\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/004_web.webp 586w, \/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/004_web-300x161.webp 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ptolemy visited Euclid regularly to build the Great Lighthouse of Alexandria called Pharos. It is said to be one of the wonders of the ancient world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">The Great Library of Alexandria:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ptolemy was greatly influenced by the classical Greek civilization of the Hellenistic age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was fond of books and learning. He created a great library at Alexandria. Later it became one of the glories of the classical world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">The First University:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>He also established a great museum in Alexandria also called as the <strong>&#8220;Museum&#8221;<\/strong>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was the first research center and famous for many scientific and literary works. It was built near to the royal palace with large complex of buildings and gardens with lecture halls.
